@user-pm6ro1wy1m its prioritizing a country's own population first, all national government are innately selfish because they're designed to favor their own people. Otherwise they wouldn't be national governments, they'd be the UN

Rich countries have no incentive to be solely reliant on the coxax system when the bilateral deals allow them to vaccinate their population faster. I hope things get better in the poorer countries but the last things I'd want is for the US to end its bilateral deals, otherwise it wouldn't be until 2022 when a significant portion of our population gets vaccinated, whereas today 1/3 of Americans are already fully vaccinated and things are starting to finally open back up.

@borgir6368 there's a big difference between having and purchasing dude. The US has purchased 3x the number of vaccines it theoretically needs, that doesn't mean it's sitting a surplus of vaccines because most of those orders haven't been fulfilled and the vaccines are still being produced

@angryyoungman4389 My country just sent millions of vaccines to India. We aren't hoarding vaccines, we haven't even fully vaccinated half of our population yet. The only reason we had extra vaccines that we weren't using was because we were waiting for the AztraZeneca vaccine to be approved by the FDA. And those vaccines make up less than 1% of the global population, so it's not like they could have done anything meaningful even if they had been sent to other countries the moment they were produced. The virus would spread and mutate regardless of how generous the US was because there still aren't enough vaccines to vaccinate the global population. Quit trying to blame the US for something that would have happened regardless of US actions
