ObamaCare is good for some, but also unfair to some degree. I'm a Chinese American who immigrated to the US. One of my relative's father also immigrated shortly after Obamacare went into effect. During one of his first visits to a US doctor was diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer, something doctors in China missed or just didn't bother to look. Because all legal residents qualifies, that means he, a man who has never worked a single day in the US (already retired when he came), not a US citizen (has a green card, legal resident but not a citizen), was able to have Obamacare pay for all of his cancer treatment. The chemo, radiation and surgeries saved his life. He extremely grateful to the US and thankful, saying coming to America saved his life. I'm not sure how other American tax payers feels about paying probaby $1 million through it all. But the objectively, if the situation were reverse (if it was an American who was diagnosed in China), Chinese hospitals would have denied him care unless he paid for everything himself, or go back to America. US healthcare system is very humane and generous, but sometimes it's not really objectively fair.

What's forgotten is that while the US medical system is the most expensive, it also is the most advanced. The US doctors are the most highly trained, spends 4 years of undergrad, 4 years graduate school, 3-7 years of residency and fellowship. US also invents half of the world's new drugs and treatments. This is why the rich from all over the world who wants the best medical care comes to the US. Unfortunately it's unfair that US population has to shoulder much of the cost of this advancement. For example, the drugs US companies invent gets sold full price in the US, but much cheaper in Europe, dirt cheap in China, and India just flat out copies it disregard to patents.

@emmanuelleb.9813 Sure, be humane, save a life during an emergency like a car accident or heart attack, but it's not reasonable to expect other tax payers to pay for non-emergent treatment of a foreigner when he is entitled to receive treatment in his country. I am examining a system objectively.

@winterrye3022 how many of those are unhealthy people? I don't blame people who are unhealthy due to bad genes, but lots are obese by overeating, drug addicts, alcoholics... Would you insure or even hire them if you owned a business? You save a drug addict from overdosing once, twice, ten times, but eventually they'll succeed in dying. Compassion only goes so far, personal responsibility exist.

That's even worse of an idea. Since when has government been efficient? Basically anything government run tend to end up being even more overpriced due to lack of competition and overly bureaucratic. You ever wonder why it takes 5 people to fix a hole on the road, why the road is closed during rush hour, with one guy diggings and 5 guys supervising?
