‘Islamophobia’ has always been a problematic term. Good to hear a wider interpretation of it, and the need to separate being anti-religion from being anti-people. However, the conflation of the two has been deliberate by ´assertive tribalists’ AND there has been little open discussion and criticism of the religion. This is particularly necessary in England where religious passion was cleverly killed off by the Anglican church! We don’t understand the passion of some(many) muslims, so the different focus on religion between groups is never openly discussed and addressed, as it must be if there is to be an open society. There are real issues about Sharia that need to be addressed in an open way.
