  1. I didn’t think he was sneering, it was a discussion - not a disrespectful one. Where Fraser seemed out of touch was in relation to working class people in the regions. Re Australian immigration, Nigel doesn’t understand that its only ‘business immigration’ that has a high bar (in terms of resources potential immigrants have) the lists of occupations that Oz ‘needs’ is deliberately set to be as wide as possible and to support pressures to reduce wages. Bureaucrats are privately very open about this. Frazer’s point that immigration conceals the failures of the welfare state, ie the number of people out of work and out of chances really needs exploring. Ditto Nigel’s about the impact of first past the post (in effect).
