Comments by "Neodym" (@neodym5809) on "Why is the INVASION OF UKRAINE a huge MISTAKE for RUSSIA? - VisualPolitik EN" video.
@LuisRomeroLopez Putin has miscalculated before, I would argue Crimea was one. Why annex it, if you could just turn it in yet another puppet state? Would have saved Russia from half a decade of economic decline.

The propaganda works with the older population, But the young don’t watch TV, but inform themselves via the internet. And they are rather pissed of having a bleak future, so most of them want to leave Russia. I otherwise fully agree with your comment

@tkhannibal2476 Name the treaty, please. Because otherwise, it doesn’t exist.

@lovinradios6495 this old myth? It were French soldiers keeping the line so British soldiers could be evacuated in Dunkirk.

But Ukraine would have an even more capable army then.

@tkhannibal2476 Gorbachev said there was none

How could nato/USA force Russia to invade Ukraine?

@le_draffar5370 Wow. It is deserved to be invaded and annexed.

@tresphorempundu3185 i ask because Russia already invaded parts of the Ukraine and annexed Crimea.

@tresphorempundu3185 There is also an agreement with the Ukraine that Russia will never question Ukrainian borders (Bucharest Memorandum), which Russia broke by annexing Crimea.

Conquering a country is one thing, occupation is another. Guerilla war fare is bloody, Ukraine or Georgia Would be rather brutal for the Russian occupation forces.
1
@bellingdog because Russians neighbours require protection, and nato offers protection. After decades under Russian control, you don’t want to lose your freedom again because Putin wants to bring back Russias former glory.
1
@bellingdog Recent history? Russia controlled most eastern countries till 1991. That is rather recent. Putin told Macron that Ukraine is an unwilling beauty which he will take by force. Rape references in a diplomatic exchange are rather unusual.
1
@bellingdog according to Gorbashow, it wasn’t part of the final agreement.

What are you talking about? There are no nato troops in the Ukraine, nor are there any plans to station any there
