It is not "not rolling out IPv6" that "saved everyone's bacon recently", you don't even know if that vulnerability would not be detected MUCH earlier if it was not being used more before, and you absolutely don't know if there is any unpatched and not noticed vulnerability at this exact moment in IPv4 that we just don't know yet, it is purely circunstantial.
