  3. "Because the civilians would live under American gun laws, the cartels would have a hard time resuming their reign of terror." We are by far the most violent and dangerous of the first world countries. We have many times the homicide rate of all of those anti-gun states. If that's what "keeping us safe" looks like, then without our gun laws, Mexico would be building a wall to keep us quarantined from the rest of the world.
