@borderlands6606 A good description of the benefits of parental involvement, which seems more possible in free or academy schools, and negligible in state run schools. You describe market forces. The school responding to consumer wishes. I went to a state-run school practically impervious to my parents. My daughter goes to a free school, and I have the principal’s phone number. Just today he sent me and my daughter a questionnaire to ask for input. Such a thing was unheard of in my rigid set-in-its-ways comprehensive.

@georgesdelatour she seems very doctrinaire. I think control by centralised state lies at the bottom of her beliefs. The benevolent state. Caring for every citizen from “cradle to grave”.
