  4. Define "we?" If you mean the USN, PT's are a coastal forces weapon. We lack enemies that pose a coastal surface threat. Two, the anti ship missle out ranged the torpedo. Three, the default mode of the USN is the blue water forces. Little time or funds get spent on Brown water forces until problems crop up. Other nations still have as some, like Sweden.

  11.  @adamalton2436  Yes. Bombs and torpedo fuses have to travel a distance for the safety system to disengage. So they do now blow or launch or release.

  13.  @sarjim4381  Yeah, big story here in Philadelphia. Temple University in just 2 weeks has over 90 students with Mumps. Now it popping up at other schools like Drexel University across town. Seems to be a mix of import students not up on shots and the home grown anti vaccine kids. I try to avoid campus now.

  15. The Oldsmobile M4 37mm cannon was designed for the Bell P39 Aircobra fighter. PT crews field modified the guns for use vs. Japanese barges. The Barges were shallow in draft, and thus poor torpedo targets. Later they were factory installed on Elco and Higgins PT boats as the M9.

  16.  @billbrockman779  I hate to play accountant, but I doubt we put that much effort to protect Military cemeteries here or overseas. A nice fence. Some groundskeepers. A night watch guy or two? That kind of sat coverage would be be better spent tracking whales or sea garbage.
