@timberwolf1575 Actually, there is no market for another carrier museum. There are near a half dozen already.

Naval history fans are like auto racing fans. Passionate, but a small minority. People go to Disneyland. Not ship museums....😏

@cvproj Ship museums have different levels of support. The Intrepid and Midway have great locations and tons of visitors. While the USS Olympia sits in need here in Philadelphia. The Seaport Museum gets little City support and one of the State Senator on the board milked the museum fund as his personal bank.... USS JFK has been on Museum hold here at the Navy yard for 10 years. No takers....😪 https://youtu.be/CUwPfKXzdDY

@calvingreene90 Nobody is crying for another carrier museum. Nuke or not.

@AtomicBabel Want sad?😪 Try CV-67 USS JFK just last week....https://youtu.be/CUwPfKXzdDY

It matters for flight ops. Most all approaches are made in a Port or left turn.

Radio antennas. They fold for air operations.

@_tyrannus They have their own building program. They have a Billion folks to keep busy....

@bkjeong4302 The type IX Uboat would like to enter the chat....😏

Man has a life offline.

@harrisonrawlinson5650 🤔.......... Short answer? Yes, but the payload is smaller

@leandro9311 Not very effective. Japan Had little Merchant traffic to sink. And had long ranges to travel.

There are limits to size..... Small carriers need small planes. The UK carriers had major issues trying to use jets. The Essex class for the USN were too small to operate F-4's or F-14's. Smaller ships are harder to land on in a pitching deck or at night. There also the logistics and manpower issues.

@randomlyentertaining8287 You Tube fans don't equal long term investment and physical support issues for such a plan. Fan love does not move a CVN.
2
@Gingerbreadley That can be a bit of a challenge. Some yards specialize in certain ship types. Like Electric Boat in Groton, CT makes subs only. Others are limited by physical locations and equipment. The Brooklyn Navy Yard had limits on ship size due to bridge heights and depth of the river.

@ZacLowing The cats were removed the hanger launch idea faded away.

@RedXlV Pilots prefer to land in a left hand approach turn. Thus, the Island is on the wrong side... https://youtu.be/SPlqoeaPUu4

@erikgranqvist3680 Underway replenishment, as seen here today. https://youtu.be/MvnTrA8AbtA

13? since when?

@its1110 Well nuc ships don't need canvas. 7 months with no port call leads to bad morale and retention.
1
@Jurassic Aviator I would disagree with that view. The ships and the F-35 are systems. Unless you plan on writing a check; Cost is a issue. Your plan would leave no money for anything else. Like escorts and support ships. Nuc power has it's cons. High upfront cost. Ports closed nuke ships. Nuc trained crew hard to get. Disposal of waste a issue. Catobar? Ski jumps need zero power. EMALS is mess in progress. The benefits in payload for cats for the size in air wing are arguable. As for the F-35? What is your better option?

@hughfisher9820 We need to do something soon. Sending a ship 7 months at sea with zero port calls is just fucked up.....😪 https://news.usni.org/2020/08/09/carrier-eisenhower-returns-from-deployment-after-spending-almost-7-months-at-sea
