That narrative is false. But keeps getting repeated. You also while trying to hang one man; give Admiral Admiral Hart and General Brereton a pass.

@michaelpiatkowskijr1045 again, false narrative. Aircraft were put into the air. Not that they were very good or large number. Nor did they have much of a functioning radar system. The aircraft were caught on the ground because they had to refuel. And air operations were the responsibility of the Air Force Commander.

@michaelpiatkowskijr1045 I'm responding to your message. And it's false in that nothing was being done. That's not factually accurate. Preparations were underway before and after the attack...

@michaelpiatkowskijr1045 actually, aircraft were up at 10 AM trying to do a intercept. They failed. They got hit after 1130. There were delays in communication as well as weather problems going on which delayed both the Japanese and the Americans operations. And frankly what aircraft they had were not particularly combat ready. Nor their pilots. Reinforcements and deliveries were still on ships when the war broke out. Nor did they have a fully integrated radar system in full operation.

@stevewhite3424 agreed. It's the never-ending game of Monday Morning Quarterback/ Woulda, Coulda , Shoulda?
3
@Archie2c that doesn't mean you have the authority to start a war? Nor did he have the capability to do so.

@kemarisite 🤷🏽♂️ what no magic tape measure?
2
That doesn't make a lot of sense? That type of vessel has no accommodation for people.

@allangibson2408 it's also extremely unnecessary.
1
@allangibson2408 there's little need to move troops like they are illegal immigrants. They had plenty of Passenger ships. There is no speed advantage in a convoy. So the idea using your refrigerated ship is a moot point. It's also a unheated, unventilated space with no head facility and in emergency, a little chance for escape...
1
@benwilson6145 that still doesn't make it a good idea.
1
@benwilson6145 just so happens I'm involved in a war online. And it's being fought pretty much like the battle of the Atlantic. Star Trek Fleet command. Been going on since Thursday. Eventually they will see the futility and the expenditures of War.

@20july1944 if you wish to bypass thousands of American prisoners and civilians? Try selling that to the American people?
1
@johnshepherd8687 which didn't turn out to be a great choice either. Still he gets a free pass in history. My only point is that some people play favorites. And other people seem to get a hate Club industry.
1
@Archie2c his bomber force was barely combat ready. And would have been slaughtered. Not to mention weather over Formosa prevented such a bombing.
1
@kkupsky6321 🙄I had to head scratch that one for a bit. Not much a late night TV show guy anymore. 📺
1
@danwilliams4051 you would be half correct. We're talking about December 8th and the Philippines.
1
@fightforaglobalfirstamendm5617 because we don't play that way. You sign a treaty to abide by it. The goal of this treaty was disarmament. And the prevailing opinion was to continue in that course and thus that's why you had the US remaining neutral for most of the 1930s. Plus add in the small factor , couldn't afford it.

@slartybartfarst55 https://youtu.be/58lfaMFUQc0 I didn't take 5 minutes. Next time, check the playlist and look under other.

@metaknight115 not before the carriers got to them.
1
@metaknight115 Sounds like Wrestlemania? 🤷🏽♂️
1
@jaredcore8888 short answer? Ships don't have to get that close anymore. Plus, all the crew needs to do is just shut the doors.
