Thank God for Drydock..... I need a break from Politics and even my Star Trek Drama Queens this week.🙄

@jeffbybee5207 Win? The CSA has no real choice to win at sea. They can not break the blockade or control the rivers. I'm not sure what a different Secretary of the Navy would do?

@AdmiralWillisLee1942 probably just another fictional warship.

@GAFINN2011NJ I believe what you are referring to, are torpedo net booms. These are folding booms that when extended carry torpedo Nets.

@jeffbybee5207 the question asked was how do the Confederates win the war by changing secretaries of Navy. Again, change in leadership is not going to materially or functionally change basic problems of the Confederacy.

@nanamikamiya6500 skipping the whole physics of the speed of sound in water. There are different thermal layers in the ocean. Submarines often try to use hiding under these layers as a way of avoiding detection. As the temperature changes, particle density of water is going to change. This will also affect the penetration of sound waves.

@king_br0k Tracer rounds are used for anti-aircraft use. Not main gunfire.

@king_br0k A tracer burns for seconds. Not 20 miles. Your tracking short range rapid fire at AA targets. Not a surface action one.

@brendonw5687 right off the bat, probably not a good idea. You are going to put a lot of Mass up high on a rather narrow hull. Making for stability issues.

@king_br0k but you're not using artillery in that fashion.

@king_br0k I hate to be the party pooper on the parade of ideas, but nobody did. Then or now.

There is nothing to be gained. It's better to have them neutral and as trade partners the same way they used Sweden.

@stevevalley7835 You spend a entire Civil War helping Franco. And to gain some port access you want to take Spain now? Somehow, that cost benefit analysis doesn't work. And one with wrecked infrastructure with an army that's already overextended.
