The UK has a worst Navy today than in 1982. So at least we are not alone in crap spending. We just do it better and more of it....

  4. Correct. The Airfield on Guadalcanal was named for Major Lofton Henderson of the United States Marines. He was commander of VMSB - 241 at Midway. He was posthumously awarded the Navy Cross for the battle. Pan Am actually operated flying boats. So they didn't use the runway at Midway.

  7. The cost and work needed negates the benefits of reactivation. Instead of a quick overhaul, your doing a major build. These are not modular systems.

  20.  @calvingreene90  The Iowa's have good fuel range. As far as air defense goes, that is what we have DDG-51's for. Have the BB as part of a task group rather than a single. Rebuild and upgrade the existing steam system is quicker and cheaper.
