@lloydknighten5071 once you have pierced the hull and have water ingress? The issue with the compartments over filling with water would not change.

@jesseestrada8914 that's highly unlikely. Plus I believe as museums they have certain agreements on how the ships are to be used or marketed. I don't think selling parts of the ship is contractually allowed?

@saoirseewing4877 sort of depends on location, number of torpedoes and Warhead size. The preferred method these days is to place a torpedo under the hull and break the keel. Versus the torpedo protection which was designed to counter a direct hit.

@chrissouthgate4554 it's not exactly an apples-to-apples comparison. The ships have different levels of protection.

@morat242 the number still workout for Japan. The UK has three oceans to defend. The United States has two. Her Rivals are spread rather thinly.

@morat242 everyone's economy was imploding in the Great Depression.

@MrToymaster1 that is a ton of Woulda, Coulda, Maybe, what if, Magic 8-Ball speculation?🎱🙄

@gregorywright4918 the only thing that pulled the United States economy out of the depression was the war. At any rate, most nations were focused on disarmament not arms building. The whole point of treaties controlling shipbuilding in the first place.

@AdmiralWillisLee1942 I'm not sure what do you mean what if? Pearl Harbor surviving Standards were rebuild and we have the results.

@icefox192 Weapons tech has not advanced to make those changes worthwhile.

@allenkellogg7499 that makes no sense? The only carriers in the inventory out of service were too small operate modern jets. The Essex types could not even operate F4 Phantom. Let alone the F-14. Nor was there any going to be any increase and air wings. The Iowa's were reactivated as surface Action Groups.

@calenedgar3722 You still require basic ventilation. However ships as part of nuclear, biological & chemical protection are designed to shut some of that down. And in a worst-case scenario, there are self-contained breathing devices for onboard.
