@alainjoyeux809 actually one of the US Navy's China gunboats. Was captured by the Japanese and put in service. USS Wake (PR-3). The ship was captured on December 8,1941 on the Yangtze River. Renamed, IJN Tatara still 1945. Then......gets crazier still..... We give her to the Nationalist Chinese. They rename it Tai Yuan. And then..... The Red Chinese captured it in 1949.

@cristitanase6130 you have a large empire to protect and patrol. The British empire stretched several continents and oceans. It's not practical to have a battleship every place. And a destroyer is not heavy enough.

Any chance we might get a Wednesday video on the whole expedition versus the Russians? As I recall there was a lot of Victoria Crosses earned in a CMB attack on the Russian fleet in harbor.

@pilotmix.2317 this might be a generational thing, but cheating is not really a design goal.

@Niels_Larsen rarely is defense spending and management done in long-term stretches. As administrations and governments change, leadership and the priorities they set also change.

@davidharner5865 the question was about trying to get around Naval treaties. The general idea was to honor them and actually do disarmament. But posters want to keep looking for a loopholes and workarounds.

The empire is a very big place. These ships are basically the Right mix of high versus low for many of these far away places. Rather than designs for the main battle line.
