@BrianRosborough You've taken the wrong conclusion of events. CV were also primary targets. The USN needed them to deliver USMC aircraft to Wake and Midway Island. USS Enterprise arrived later that same day. Bad timing, not lack of care about carriers.

Cutts, the Navy was in mid Depression, Isolating, and Defense cutting. We had no enemy and were making treaties to cut hulls.There is zero way this plan goes anywhere.
