@stmcde1701 answer? Trying to send Bismarck to the Mediterranean is just a non-starter.

@Wannes_ not only that, there's already an entire Italian fleet there. What's the what's the point of trying to send German battleships into the Mediterranean? The whole running past Gibraltar thing is problematic. And in a region with allied air power, the lifespan of a German battleship in those Waters would be pretty short.

Going back to the Saipan question. A more likely post-war use is for Operation of helicopters, rather than fixed Wing aircraft.

I think people are making the same sort of mistake as those who generalize about Firearms calibers. When a person says a rifle is a .30 caliber; there are a endless bunch of different chambering. People make the same mistake when they use the imprecise," 9mm. " there are a ton of different rounds in the 9mm class that are not 9 mm luger/parabellum. Naval shell ammunition is not some sort of NATO standard that you can just interchange.

It's not very practical to try and source exotic woods in the quantities required for shipbuilding.

@neil2742 that was a confusing question. Every ship and every engine is going to have a different propeller and drive system to reach a said speed. That particular ship was 1,400 revolutions. On a different ship it'll be something else to reach the same mark.

@jefferyindorf699 West Virginia is a very good choice.

@galbert117 Admiral Fletcher.... Started off fighting the biggest carrier battles of the war. And spent the rest of the war on the sideline. Could he have come back after a rest? Maybe?

@bkjeong4302 🤷🏽♂️ Once again BK rains on the dreams of the battleship fans... but, I agree with you. It makes even less sense than just blindly going out into the North Atlantic looking for convoys.
