@bkjeong4302 Nobody thought the Alamo would work either. They did the job. Delay and bleed the Enemy. Buy the troops on Okinawa some time. And honor the Emperor.

@johnphillips519 Gen.Tojo ran the Government.
18
They sent all they had.
8
@johnphillips519 The Emperor was not in charge.
7
@Mike44460 The Emperor was in no more head of Government, than the King of England.

@c_o_n_t_e_n_t3420 Yeah, dark as in there are men in there. And yeah, you going to drown them to keep the ammo exploding.
5
@LawL_LawL I reject your fleet in port idea. She becomes Tirpitz instead. A bomb range target. Not able to stop a invasion and disgracefully surrendering. 7 planes and crews; while less than hoped for. Better than zero. Their death was not meaningless. They fought to keep their homeland free of the Allies. To the last man, last breath.
3
@DraftySatyr That is a crap more than Tirpitz did sitting in Norway.
3
@scottygdaman I was focused more on the idea of 28 million died in the "Great Patriotic War;" and no code of Bushido needed....
3
The Japanese would reply; all that "intelligent fighting" did little, 5 years later in Korea.

Sad, yet honorable death. They fought to the last full measure of devotion to duty, Emperor and nation. No one can say, the IJN didn't try. 😔
2
@seasirocco3063 2 Two floatplanes vs. 100 Hellcats and Corsairs?
2
@biscuit4705 Radars have different uses. Air search, surface search, fire control, air traffic, weather, navigation, etc.
2
@Bagheera2 And your plan is? 🤔
2
Ron Lewenberg By mid 1942 they met all goals and expelled all foes outside China. Not a bad effort.
2
@gaeliel To raid what? They had no chance of merchant raiding.
2
@captainobvious9233 Iowa escapes. She outruns the shadow cruisers and shoots down all torpedo planes. KGV and Rodney are left behind.
2
@_byzzer3228 men doing their Duty for their country. I give them their credit.
1
@apassionatenerd.3564 no more than the words duty, honor, country.😏
1
@miskatonic6210 Very oversimplified version of events.
1
@scottygdaman So explain Soviet culture? 🤔
1
@fuzzydunlop7928 He was not in control of the government anymore than the other Monarchs. Don't see you crying about them?
1
Chicken or egg?
1
@andrewtaylor940 Hmmmmm...... I would debate your explosion claim. While notable and huge historically, the First World War explosion in Halifax, Canada of 1917 ranks higher. An estimated three kiloton explosion. That would make it about twice as big as the Beirut explosion last year estimates.
1
@dn9463 We would do the same thing. And have in the past.
1
@curvy4655 Yes.
1
@bkjeong4302 One man's Insanity? Is Another man's epic courage and devotion to duty and country.
1
ALSO-RAN ! Actually there is no difference.
1
@jrturner7707 Everything but the gun thing is possible.
1
To be fair, the commanders of 8th Army And X Corps (Walker & Almond) bare the responsibility. As for the Chi coms? They had us outnumbered.
1
@TheTrueOrion Not a option.
1
@godeater360 It would be sunk.

@nelsoncheng2674 For about a year, they did win ... We outproduced, and outperformed from then on.
1
@mikbraikku Still out numbered, out gunned and fuel for one way... Nope.
1
@valkyriedown5465 You can get a teaching certificate in most districts as a Substitute in days or weeks. No experience needed.
1
ALSO-RAN ! It does nothing at home. They had a valid mission and died with honor. Not Surrender.
1
Ron Lewenberg I didn't say January. And by the time of Midway they had control of everything West of Midway and West of India.
