  2. Martin Carvallo I had a hunch you wouldn't get it. I wrote "accused". Drunk drivers often do the hit-and-run thing. I just wondered if you honestly believe your argument would get you acquitted in court, regardless of whether you ran over the kid or not. Ukraine came clean about their mistake and compensated the victims. It was a Russian-made S-200 -- not a Buk -- that shot the Siberian Airlines plane down. American experts first made their suspicions known. The most vocal critic of the theory was Moscow -- not Kiev -- until both had to admit to being wrong. What does that say about MH17? That the Russians get it wrong all the time.

Let's have the pro-Russian rebels and Russia own up to their mistake and then see what kind of compensation plan they come up with. Then we can evaluate if they're more generous than the Ukrainians. It's important to note that the Ukrainians didn't target the Siberian Airlines jet, mistaking it for a military transport like the pro-Russian rebels did with MH17. Instead, the Ukrainians had a runaway missile on their hands, something which, according to the Russians, wasn't even possible. It's simple: initially neither the Russians nor the Ukrainians wanted to believe the unthinkable.
