Why would you bring up an entirely hypothetical scenario? Mexico has no interest in becoming a pawn for a regional power half a world away. Remind me, this NATO non-expansion agreement, when and by whom was it signed?

Here's an idea: let the Ukrainians decide for themselves what they want to be.

@Gunni1972 Cleverness isn't the issue here. Mexico doesn't share a border with Russia.

@FKnATOO Ah, the so-called Two Plus Four Treaty. You're quite correct in noting that it pertains to former East German territory. Germany has kept its end of the bargain. Your treaty says nothing about the 14 countries that joined NATO since. Bummer, eh?

@Кипящийразум You're worrying about nothing. You'd never make the grade and be offered EU membership. The Copenhagen criteria rule you out.

@lukadundur8341 That was the idea, when Ukraine went for the association agreement with the EU. But then Putin got intensely jealous. He doesn't want to share. Then Euromaidan happened and Putin went berserk. Hell hath no fury like a Putin scorned.

@426dfv So which foreign power is trying to pry Catalonia loose from Spain? I don't see any foreign actors facilitating the break-up of the UK either.

@426dfv Because it's not the EU's business to get involved in Spain's domestic affairs. In other words, there's no foreign actor prying Catalonia loose from Spain. So Catalonia's situation is not all comparable to that of Donbas, where another country, Russia, is stoking war no less. The Scots already had one referendum about independence, but I can't see why they can't have another. I have to say, I'm a bit baffled by your (lack of) logic.

@426dfv Human rights are a global concern. And it's not like the EU is advocating independence for Xinjiang. The EU had no missions in Afghanistan or Libya. You should read up on who's doing what and where. All the information is available online. Or is comprehending it a challenge for you?

@426dfv Indyref2 is not nixed. UK governments come and go, and I think the Tories are a go after mismanaging Brexit so profoundly. Also, the SNP didn't do itself any favours by touting 2014's indyref1 as a once-in-a-generation affair. Northern Ireland has its border poll, which will conclusively decide its fate. Ireland is very civil in the matter despite the historic injustice that needs setting right. ROI just has to bide its time. NI's demographic development is clear. Your attempts at drawing parallels between East Ukraine and Catalonia etc. are a complete miss, I'm afraid.
