  1. Actually, just like Germany, Sweden let their guard down. They drastically reduced their defence budget, abolished conscription and got rid of their emergency stockpiles. Finland, Sweden's eastern neighbour, wisely maintained their preparedness and even bolstered their defences by snapping up surplus kit on the cheap from the naive and the clueless. Poland, too, understood the importance of eternal vigilance. Sweden has made amends since, but they're still kicking themselves.
