@Joel_Wiell How is exposing the population to the coronavirus going to help finding a vaccine? All countries, even those with far fewer cases than Sweden, have access to antibodies in sufficient quantities to develop a vaccine.

@Joel_Wiell Herd immunity and vaccines are two different things. The Swedish health officials readily admit that public immunity has been painfully slow in developing. Another matter is how effective herd immunity will prove, since research shows that the coronavirus antibodies disappear way too soon for comfort. In all likelihood, Sweden can rid itself of the coronavirus only with mass vaccinations. That puts it in the same situation as other countries that did take strict preventive measures -- only Sweden is saddled with an embarrassingly high death toll.
