The only "luxury natural resource" were missing out on is Russian caviar, but there's always Chinese, Italian and French caviar, which had largely taken over the market from Russian caviar anyway. Forestry products we have in plentiful supply. We're exporting them to Norway, in fact.

@marynamalitskaya3534 But we're not Europe. We have over 50% renewable energy, complemented by nuclear energy, which we never gave up on. Our power stations are multifuel, which means they burn wood chips and municipal waste just as eagerly as coal, oil or gas. Domestically, we've never relied on natural gas. Summa summarum, your precious Mother Russia is surplus to requirements as far as we're concerned. We knew all along that Russia was an unreliable partner, so we came prepared.
