  2.  @deslow7411  You should be a bit more careful in your wording. Of all the EU countries, Finland never neglected its defence. Instead, it only bolstered it when the Cold War ended, seeing an opportunity to snap up used but still perfectly serviceable weapons on the cheap from the likes of Germany and the Netherlands, who naively cut too deep. Finland never scrapped conscription either, unlike most other EU nations. The motivation to defend one's country never flagged either. Also, Finland joining NATO never sparked off a national discussion about giving up on the 2nd largest reserve military force in the EU (after Greece) in favour of fewer and more specialist NATO troops. The thinking is still that we'll do the honours and stop the Russian invaders ourselves, but NATO air power can help, because despite having the strongest artillery in the EU, the destruction of the enemy won't be as fast and as complete with artillery alone.

Annoit kuvan, että Suomi yhdessä muiden EU-maiden kanssa on laiminlyönnyt maanpuolustuksen.
