@annan7728 The US has money to fix its crumbling infrastructure, but chooses not to. Just like the US could offer affordable healthcare to all its citizens, but chooses not to. Call it American exceptionalism.

@Ivan-tm9pd Nothing prevents private and universal healtcare from co-existing. Germany's been at it since 1883. Individuals and their employers can pay extra for better or more timely care if they so choose. In some countries, you can freely choose your insurance company and healthcare provider, while still covered by universal healthcare. Myself, when living in Belgium, went to my downstairs neighbour, a gynaecologist whom I had befriended, with all my (manly) health concerns. Admittedly, the stirrups were a bit of a bother. You've got a different problem on your hands with the lobbyists. You may want to curtail their influence because of other concerns as well.

@bellohadiza9414 How are "western dominances" reduced if manufacturing shifts from China to LATAM? The cultural ties alone suggest there's a tighter bond there with "the west". As a European, I feel much more at home in LATAM than in China, and I travelled extensively in both.

@Ivan-tm9pd Sure thing. Lobbyists not only prevent healthcare reform, but oh-so many other reforms. Maybe tackle the root of the problem? The lobbyists?
