You're funny. The gas has been there for hundreds of millions of years, yet you're afraid it will escape if not tapped.

The Netherlands aren't exactly a poster boy for nuclear power. If you were French, or even Belgian, you'd have some credibility.

@Crashed131963 Coal-powered power plants are of no help if the Germans cook and heat their houses with natural gas. I suppose coal gas could be solution, albeit a costly one.

@elliedegroot Maar jullie zijn toch van Duitsen bloed. Althans, volgens een zekere Wilhelmus van Nassouwe.

@Crashed131963 Thank you for that entirely superfluous lesson in power generation. The Germans still need gas to cook and heat their homes. Switching to electricity means a huge investment considering that there are over 40 million households in Germany, and they primarily use natural gas.

@Crashed131963 We've had an electric stove/oven since, like, ever. The radiators are all electric, too. The electricity comes from a nearby hydroelectric dam. I burn wood in my fireplace that comes from my very own forest. Gas we only buy in bottles for the barbecue. None of that helps the Germans, except in that we're not competing with them for gas.
