Not really. The courts will decide if the Catalan leaders on trial broke the law -- I have a hunch that they'll be acquitted, or they'll get a rap on the knuckles for some minor infractions. Besides, it's a Spanish affair, with no bearing on Europe as a whole.

Don't flatter yourself. The PRC strong-armed other countries to no longer recognise ROC. By and large they've now agreed, but in doing so, they just went through the motions, still retaining close relations with Taiwan. If I have to apply for a Taiwanese visa, I simply visit their representative office as if I would an embassy. To add insult to injury, I did so countless of times when shuttling between Beijing and Taipei, making a stopover in Hong Kong SAR. Don't kid yourself, nothing has or will change. China's strong-arm tactics just lead to more sympathy for Taiwan.
