Comments by "peabase" (@peabase) on "Trump threatens EU with 4 billion in tariffs over Airbus subsidies | DW News" video.
There are trade tariffs every which way. The EU is just as guilty as the US, as is China. The system needs adjusting from time to time, and that's what we're seeing. Trump is trying to portray the US as a victim for his own political benefit, but at the negotiation table cooler heads will prevail and all angles will be examined closely. However, Trump doesn't realise that you catch more flies with honey than vinegar. I bet China and the EU are already discussing how to put Trump in his place.

@Josh-xz4ec For what it's worth, the EU-27 seem very united in agreeing on how to deal with Brexit-Britain. The Brits have tried numerous times to drive a wedge between them by cosying up to potential dissenters, but with zero effect. You could say that the EU-27 -- 27 very dissimilar countries -- are more united than British Parliament, which, among themselves, can't agree on anything related to Brexit. Maybe you can't put things into perspective?

goff0103 China's economy is very dependent on exports to Europe and the USA. The latter two are much more self-sustaining. Therefore, in a trade war, China is by default the biggest loser. We're already witnessing the first signs, with Chinese factory output slowing dangerously.

@jamesheseltine2011 It's exactly your kind of haters that the European Project doesn't need. Good riddance, I say. I only wish you wouldn't let the door hit you on the way out. Again and again.

@Josh-xz4ec But we are talking about Eastern Europe. Aren't they in the EU-27, too? Not too long ago, the EU criticized Poland for eroding the rule of law in the country. The UK sided with Poland in a glaringly obvious attempt to curry favour with the Poles. Poland didn't break ranks with the EU-27 on Brexit.

@meganh9460 It's rather obvious that China and the EU finding common ground in a trade war will allow them to extract concessions from the US that they would not get otherwise. Two are stronger than one. Besides, there's a measure of trust between the EU and China, whereas Trump's unpredictability and strong-arm tactics seriously undermine the US position. The US is both a winner and a loser in the existing trade deals, as are the EU and China. It all depends on which aspects you want to emphasize. These existing trade deals have evolved over a long period of time and will continue to do so as situations change, but suggesting that the US has somehow been screwed over -- as Trump keeps claiming -- is tantamount to admitting that you're poor saps and you can't fend for yourselves.

@meganh9460 That's just not true. The EU-27 engage with Poland far more intensively than the UK does. Moreover, the EU has Donald Tusk, the former prime minister of Poland, as its council president. Are you saying Tusk doesn't know Poland? Hungary isn't an economic powerhouse, but a rather willing recipient of EU funding. They aren't jeopardizing that for the sake Poland. Orban is enriching himself with EU money, too, as his close circle of friends lands the EU-funded construction projects. He would be mad to kill the goose that lays the golden eggs.
