The company bought them from Sweden, which bought them from Germany, which inherited them from East Germany, which bought them from the Soviet Union. Ever since the Swedish deal, Germany has had a say who gets to have them next, which it just did with regard to Ukraine. Not too long ago. there was a similar episode involving Soviet-made howitzers that made their way from Germany to Finland, Estonia and finally, Ukraine. I hope the latter has put them to good use.
