True, and the US Armed Forces are a social welfare programme as well. If the US didn't spend as much on the military, it would spend the difference on food stamps and prisons.

@bigboss.800 *Americans. Germany may have skimped on its military spending, but it has made a tidy profit from the spending of others. Germany is a major exporter of defence equipment.

@fuckfannyfiddlefart Russia has weaponised its gas deliveries, so the green shift is part and parcel of bolstering Germany's defences. And there are plenty of arms manufacturers on the continent. German ones, too.

You're not up to speed on European politics. Poland has been telling Germany to up its game for years, militarily and foreign policy-wise. I've never heard of Austria living in fear of Germany. Prussia perhaps, but that's literally ancient history.

Germany already has the EuroSpike ATGM. It's made in Germany, too.
