@CMoore8539 It doesn't look good for Russia either. Without succeeding in their ultimate aim -- regime change in Ukraine -- they'll be stuck with a lingering conflict in Ukraine and crippling sanctions to boot. Colour revolutions are looming, if not in Russia, then Belarus or Kazakhstan. Ukraine, Moldovia and Georgia are joining the EU, while Finland and Sweden are joining NATO. It positively sucks to be Russian.

Faiez Cader Impress us with your alertness then. How is Putin going to extricate himself from all this? I've never heard a Putin fanboy or girl explain that one.

@aaronpaul9188 Sanctions are a long-haul measure. Putin has been talking about the economic blitzkrieg against Russia failing, as if such a thing exists. It's like saying his supposed cancer isn't fatal, because he hasn't succumbed to it overnight. There is no serious sanctions fatigue in Europe. The US maybe a different kettle of fish, especially if Trump manages to get re-elected, but it's EU-Russia trade that really matters.

@TheKaiser12345 So, you want to appease a dictator like Putin? Do you think he'll stop at demanding Ukraine's "neutrality"? Which cowardly country are you from, if I may ask?

@rons5319 That question is something you should pose to Putin. To him, not winning amounts to losing. For Ukraine, it's a defensive victory.

Faiez Cader Alas, despite my high hopes, you don't impress. Commodities are just that, resources that can be had from various sources. Rather than fret about the West's non-lack of resources, you should agonise about Russia lack of industrial capacity. With the economic sanctions in place and Russia's notoriously undiversified economy, it's Russia that's in a pickle.

@Iceyfire12 Oh, I'm half-expecting Putin will share Milosevich's fate. When Putin's worst nightmare has come true and Russia has had its colour revolution, they'll extradite him to the Hague. The other alternative is that he'll make it to China and spend the rest of his days hiding in Inner Mongolia. That's is, if China doesn't extradite him.
