  3.  @OpiumBride  In that case, I have to wonder if those 45 countries that you claim you've visited include China. I have, and so many times over the last thirty years that I've lost count. For all its wonders and the economic progress they've made, China hasn't developed democratically -- on the contrary, it has grown only more authoritarian. Currently, nothing points to China becoming a free and fair society. Sure, the recent US democratic failings are there for all the world to see, but you clearly can't put things into perspective.

  4.  @OpiumBride  My wife's from Hong Kong and I lived among the Chinese for over 15 years. I don't see what I should see clearer. Was it so that you've never been to China? The US is no poster boy for democracy and hasn't been one for some time. If you re-read my initial comment, it shouldn't take great powers of deduction to conclude that I'm no fan of either the US or China. I guess you come up short there, just like you can't distinguish between shades of gray. Since you think it was insulting of me to note that China is undeveloped democratically and there are no signs of positive change in that respect, show me how I got it wrong.
