Comments by "peabase" (@peabase) on "'Putin only understands word of force' What's behind Germany's diplomatic efforts? | Berlin Briefing" video.
Putin was mumbling something about a sphere of influence. It was just as non-sensical then as it is now.
11
So Russia lost WW1 to Germany and Germany lost WW2 to Russia. Whose turn is it now?
4
Your syrupy ode to Putin would sound better if you knew how to spell *fazed.
3
So, you are rattling Russia's little nuclear sabre for them?
3
@dillonhillier If Cuba and Venezuela were to join CSTO, the US would just have to grin and bear it. Of course, bringing in nuclear weapons is a different matter. It should be noted that despite NATO's enlargement, its nuclear weapons haven't moved an inch eastward. Russia, on the other hand, has brought it nukes forward, to Kaliningrad and Belarus. So you're not just being hypothetical, but also, hypocritical.
3
An "In Soviet Russia" reversal joke detected.
3
@renjingtu3611 NATO is invasive? Its new members very much wanted to join -- they wanted to be "invaded", to use your own words. NATO expands by popular consent, Russia expands by military force. Note the difference?
2
Duh, who says it's NATO that would be talking peace with Russia? There would be quite a crowd around the negotiation table.
2
@panchovilla5940 In essence an EU army already exists as a subset of NATO. Or did you think there's a single-entity NATO army? And what is it to the "UK and any other European countrys [sic]"?
2
@burns281981 Oh boy. I didn't claim that the Soviet Union ended WW2. What's your major malfuntion? Too much Prime?
1
And you are from...?
1
@dillonhillier You should add a warning to your replies that you're about to go off on a tangent, or that your goal posts are highly movable -- whichever applies. Over and out.
1
@burns281981 Whose education might you be referring to? I have a master's in history, among a few other academic degrees. That does bring along a certain degree of confidence. I'm stating facts here. Russia -- in the guise of the Soviet Union -- did emerge victorious against Germany in WW2. In WW1 it was the reverse, with Russia suing for peace with Germany. And why would you bring Japan into this? I suspect your reading comprehension may be at fault here, Boris.
1
@dillonhillier Oh, you didn't get the clue about "my" Nobel Peace Prizes? That's sad.
1
@burns281981 My *Russkie ego? My ego is anything but. Germany did lose to the Soviet Union in WW2. The Soviets famously took the Reichstag in the Battle of Berlin to mark their victory. All this is very factual. If it calms your fragile ego, it's equally true that your precious Murica was victorious over Germany, too. The same goes for Britain. Both respectfully held off to let Stalin take Berlin. I now realise that you're not the sharpest pencil in the box, but if you care you to reread my initial comment in this thread -- this time carefully -- I'm insinuating that Russia is heading for a defeat in the Ukraine War. You're the ones with the deficient education system and you serve as a prime example of the consequence.
1
@dillonhillier Uh, when exactly did Libya apply for CSTO membership? Besides, a civil war was already in full swing in Libya when NATO intervened, with the UNSC's blessing. Participation in the air ops wasn't limited to NATO members either. You're grasping at straws.
1
@dillonhillier Let me try to put it in terms you may understand. How many coups have been engineered by NATO -- or any of its members -- in response to Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan joining CSTO? By your logic, all their pro-Russian governments should've fallen prey to coup d'états, replacing them with pro-Western governments. Feel free to lambast your foreign policy, but please wait till I've made some popcorn.
1
Xi is very much enjoying all of this. Russia is slowly but surely being relegated to China's northernmost province. If Pu Tin quietly accepts his fate, he gets to stay on as Ruxia's regional governor.
1
You're just salty because the former Soviet bloc countries made a beeline for NATO when the Evil Empire collapsed.
1
What you're describing was basically the idea before Euromaidan, but Putin wanted to be exlusive with Ukraine. Putin's puppet-on-a-string, Yanukovych, complied, triggering Euromaidan. So, you need to have a tête-à-tête with Putin -- not with Zelenskyy -- and explain the merits of your grand plan.
1
@dillonhillier And I am a two-time Nobel Peace Prize winner, in 1988 and 2012. You did do the argumentum ad lapidem thingy. Now you're trying to provide "evidence". There have been no coups in response to countries joining the Warsaw Pact, or more recently, CSTO. If you want to discuss US foreign policy misdeeds in general, take a compatriot of yours to task.
1
I think you're mistaken. Putin will not survive this.
1
Don't you think? They were right about Putin all along. And now Kallas is the EU's high rep for foreign affairs and security policy and veep of the European Commission. Insane indeed!
1
@dillonhillier You're trying to appeal to the stone. Are you in middle school?
1
@dillonhillier Ah, the old coup conspiracy theory. To reiterate, Putin's puppet, Yanukovych, fled the scene and got legally removed from office, with even some of former allies voting for his ouster. Your appeal to the stone is amusing. Puerile and amusing, that is.

Yet Russia has a track record of falling apart when its wars go awry. This time, Estonia may gain a few neighbours as part of the process: Karelia and Ingria. A bit further afield, Amberland. No doubt they'll apply for EU and NATO membership, too, after which you'll troll against them, paid by rump-Russia a.k.a. Muscovy.
