Comments by "peabase" (@peabase) on "Can German Chancellor Angela Merkel save the EU? | DW News" video.
Angela is finished by her own choice. Trump is finished because he stands to lose the 2020 election. One is bowing out gracefully, the other is carried out kicking and screaming. Spot the difference?

There's talk all right. Inside your head.

@calvinsylveste8474 Because it brought the EU economies to a standstill. Any more questions?

Try to keep abreast of the times. I much rather have Germany's democracy than the bipolar democracies of the UK and the US.

Uh, there's a pandemic going on. Doesn't that ring a bell?

Then India is in deep, deep trouble.

You're living in the distant past. Try to break out to the present.

@calvinsylveste8474 Now that's a loaded question. Some EU countries have been exemplary in their handling of the corona crisis, others not so. I deduce from your clumsy generalization that you're not European yourself. Glass houses? Anyhoo, whether or not we've taken the right measures in a timely manner, the economic fallout appears to be much the same for all. In case you haven't noticed.

@Frank75288 Since you're a David Icke fan, do you also believe in blood-sucking, shape-shifting reptilians (please say yes)?

Not so. It's a matter of balancing the budget. The EU's net beneficiaries will have to reduce their spending on infrastructure, but us net payers won't see any change, since we're not increasing our contributions to any significant degree. In your shoes, I would more concerned about the double whammy of a no-deal Brexit and the Covid-19 pandemic, which clearly slipped beyond your control. We, in the EU, can support one another. Who will you be going to for support? The IMF, like all the economic basket cases?

@grousetheghoul2754 How did you come up with that? The closest thing to an EU army has been the EU Battlegroup, in which the UK has participated with a joint UK-Dutch contingent of 1,500 troops. Pretty much all the participating nations manage that. As for European armies in general, the French Army outnumbers the British Army.

King Crusader Russia is utterly dependent on the money it receives in exchange for its natural gas. Actually, oil and gas are commodities, which can be had elsewhere, too. With a dwindling demand for fossil fuels, it's Russia that needs to realize its economy is crumbling.

@joshuaking2171 No doubt, it will be a good deal. But not a win-win.

@dylanchampion9948 Why would your personal opinion on the EU's lifespan matter? Say, do you wear a bicorne hat and keep your hand inside your waistcoat? Public opinion, on the other hand, does matter and it has grown even more favourable towards the EU throughout Europe, even in Brexit Britain, which is now reported to be more pro than con-EU.

Well, it would appear Trump is soon available to take on new challenges.
