  3.  @pwn5047  Now more than ever, it's the talk of the town. The sanctions -- never a Blitzkrieg measure -- are really starting to bite. Industrial output is down for lack of Western components and tooling, which Russia struggles to replace. Russia's earnings from energy exports are heading south fast. I suppose you've never seen the innards of a business school, but losing your customers and failing to replace them is a recipe for disaster. I guess it's only a matter of time before we start shipping humanitarian aid -- for the second time in my lifetime -- to Russia's poor and destitute.

  4.  @pwn5047  So you're not entirely in the dark then. It's no secret that Russia's economy is notoriously undiversified. Each year, Putin promises improvement, but it's never forthcoming. Even China isn't meeting Russia's high-tech needs. No wonder, because China has a choice to make: either service a huge market in the West, or a puny, shrinking one in Russia.

You had the likes of Germany and France refusing to have any part in it, which angered Dubya and his neocons no end. Only a (then-)child wouldn't know that.
