  6.  @michellekemp3104  The problem with US politics is not political parties, but the lack of them. Both dominant parties are forced to pick less-than-ideal candidates to stand a chance of winning. In parliamentary democracies, voters are spoilt for choice. The parties have to behave, too, because their former adversaries may be their future coalition partners. Extremists and populists have it tough.
