@bmjnation6351 The same Putin promised more than twenty years ago that Russia would reach the same standard of living as Portugal in 15 years' time. No such luck. And that was supposed to be by 2014, before the West started sanctioning Russia for Putler's hunger for Lebensraum.

@govithabang8912 It's the 21st century, and Russia has never managed to build itself a functioning democracy. No amount of whatabouting about Murica will change that.

@alenkawow3534 Why would I come up with my own definition of democracy? I'm perfectly fine with the generally accepted one. I also know perfectly well that Russia doesn't qualify as one. Russia ranks 124th out of 167 in the Democracy Index. For a developed country, that's the pits.
