I know there's a complete lack of sunshine in there, but how do you deal with the stink?

@lorghi It's not up to any East or West to decide which alliances Ukraine enters into. That's entirely up to Ukraine and Ukraine alone. Snap out of Molotov-Ribbentrop mode already.

@alejandro1904 They're at liberty to do so, but I can't think of a single reason why Canada would want to become a geopolitical pawn for a strictly regional power like Russia. They're not even in the same region. Not that I think Canada is open to bribery, but Russia could never pony up a bribe big enough to even catch Canada's attention.

@vlad_47 France isn't exactly a superpower either, but they've done their fair share of bombing, especially in Africa. Come to think of it, dropping bombs from high up on AK-toting irregulars is within the capabilities of any air force. The Canadians aren't your friends for a whole range of reasons. In fact, you should ask yourselves if you have any at all.

@vlad_47 So you're saying that in order to qualify as a superpower, one only has to launch a cruise missile in Syria. We've set aside our JASSMs to strike Russian targets, but it's an interesting thought. Let's assume you're right, too, that bollocksing up in Afghanistan is kryptonite to one's superpowers. Then it follows that the USSR underwent the same fate. Oh, we don't fight in Syria. I see you're very prone to making false connections.

@vlad_47 I told you already, we're not fighting in Syria, nor have we ever been involved in any hostilities there. Didn't I hint already that you're quick to jump to conclusions? I see you're suggesting that you withdrew from Afghanistan, not because you weren't victorious, but because you lost your appetite for fighting an endless war. The same could be said about the Americans. However, a comparison of casualty figures shows that you were much worse off, to say nothing of the ensuing collapse of the USSR and the loss of your superpower status. In your shoes, I wouldn't get too self-congratulatory about subduing insurgences and winning against guerrillas. The First Chechen War, the Beslan school siege and Moscow theatre hostage crisis come to mind.
