  1. Finnish troops managed to trap entire Soviet divisions and let cold and hunger do their work. Sadly, Ukraine has neither the forces nor the terrain for full-fledged 'motti' tactics, and temperatures are on the rise, too. Harrying the supply lines till life just becomes too miserable for the Russian troops is their best course of action.

  2. It won't be quite like WW1 trench warfare. Ukrainian troops will harry the Russia supply lines, which are thinly stretched across vast tracts of Ukrainian territory. Supplies will still get through, but at a great cost to the Russians. The Ukrainians will get to choose where and when to attack. The Russians will just have to grin and bear it, suffering disproportionate casualties. Putin's generals, when they've built up the courage, will plead with Putin to withdraw.
