An insincere one. It's in China's interest to see a greatly weakened Russia grow more and more dependent on China. I suppose an uneasy truce will have the same effect, but a war of attrition brings results quicker.

If so, Xi paints himself into a corner as a peacemaker. He'll get exposed for the con artist that he is.

Agreed. Xi has to put his money where his mouth is and prove that he really is a peacemaker.

@victorye7150 Your understanding of geopolitics leaves a lot to be desired. Zelenskyy is not so naïve as to think China will be Ukraine's new BFF. China has a much bigger and juicier carcass to pick in Russia than it ever would in Ukraine. China will continue to play BFF to Russia.

@maneil9297 Newsflash. Russia is already heavily dependent on China. It's said that Russia is a gas station masquerading as a country, and it just lost its biggest and best customers. They're gone for good. Enter China. It's willing to take the surplus oil off Russia's hands -- at a heavily discounted price, of course. That reeks of colonialism, where the mother country sets the price. China is fleecing its new colony, in other words.

@niburu1508 Oh, you're advocating that China, too, invades Ukraine. Might is right in your screwed-up world.

@Omni_Shambles Your sarcasm is working against you. The Iraqis themselves found Saddam Hussein guilty of crimes against humanity and sentenced him to the long drop. You may just have predicted Putin's fate, whose demise in all likelihood will be a domestic affair as well, although I suspect the manner in which he'll meet his maker won't earn the Russians any style points.

@oconnor6456 Cope? Things are going dandy. Russia is losing in Ukraine and Putin lost the energy war he was waging with the EU. We just have to watch our popcorn intake.
