But you'll have to make it through multiple books of the most gruesome barbarity, primitive superstition, and greatest scientific illiteracy as you're ever gonna find. We're talking about a civilization that slaughtered entire villages and kept the virgin women for themselves (Numbers 31:15-18), sacrificed goats because they thought "god" could enjoy the sweet fragrance of its burning flesh, and believed that the Earth was flat, motionless, and at the center of the universe.
