  2. I feel terribly for the families. They should never have been there in the first place. At the most, U.S. troops should only be stationed with allies who actually abide by international law and with whom we have formal mutual defense agreements (e.g. Japan, South Korea, Australia, and NATO), not with second-rate Islamic kingdoms in a highly volatile region. Placing them in harm's way in such a fashion is, in my view, the height of stupidity.
