  1. @Jay Pete That's kinda how the system is designed already. In California where I live, only 3 years of math are required in high school --- and it can be any math, not just trig and calculus. So if you hate math and prefer the humanities instead, then you can take an extra history course your senior year. I was more of a science guy, so I took six science courses during my time in high school (only two were Advanced Placement though). But I will concede that, at least in this state, the curriculum could be more flexible to tailor to kids' unique interests.

  2. Have you heard of these new things called extracurricular activities and homework? 🤔 Also, yeah, social media and Netflix definitely don't help either. But when kids don't have time to spend a single waking hour each day watching YouTube or playing video games, you know something is wrong with the system.

  3. This makes no difference if extracurricular activities require you to be on campus at 7:00 or 7:30 a.m. the entire school year. I participated in that for a while, it sucked. Unless that has to be changed too, this confers little benefit to those of us who are overachievers.
