How utterly absurd. In the case of slavery, there is clearly harm being done. Not so with abortion. Embryos/fetuses aren't "persons." Because, at a minimum, a "person" must be an entity that can experience pain (suffer, which fish can do), be aware of its surroundings (sentient, which the hundreds of thousands of pigs and cows slaughtered each day are), and can see itself as existing over time, or is self-aware (consciousness, which only dogs, dolphins, great apes, humans, and a few other species are capable of). A fetus, prior to the age of 18 weeks, is none of the above.

@goldeneagle4786 Have you ever considered that embryos/fetuses are "human" only in the sense that they possess human DNA, and when they lack any capacity to suffer or sentience that their interests do not outweigh the interests of the mother on whom their survival depends?

@joshmoonXY How original. What will be your argument when these psycho Republicans target contraception next? Birth control fails every once in a while. And I'm willing to bet that the vast, vast majority of women would only choose abortion as a last resort, as -- aside from any ethical considerations -- she will be physically and financially penalized each time she goes that route. This objection, if it is even worthy of the name, carries absolutely no weight whatsoever.

Is it only human life that you care about? If so, why the double standard? A squirrel is sentient, an 18-week-old fetus is not. How about you keep your personal beliefs out of the wombs of women? It's literally none of your business.
