  1. Bjorn Lomborg is a political scientist, not a climatologist. Steven E. Koonin is a physicist, not a climatologist. Both of them have been lambasted by the experts in this regard. (Andrew Dessler in particular does a remarkable job of dismantling Koonin's numerous fallacies and misrepresentations.) These people have about as much qualifications to speak authoritatively on climate change as Vivek has for becoming President. In the same way that these "contrarians" contributed to millions more deaths from smoking by raising doubt, millions more will be doomed to suffer because their attempts to delay action will have proven largely successful. There is no excuse for denying human influence on the climate other than willful ignorance of the science -- or a complete disregard for dispassionate observation and rigorous empirical testing, otherwise known as the scientific method.
