  1. Gee, as much as they might despise one another, I'm having a more and more difficult time differentiating the goals of the Taliban with the modern Republican Party. There was a time in our nation's history when establishing a theocracy wasn't a stated goal of either major party, but those days are long since behind us --- thanks to Richard Nixon, Ronald Reagan, and other "new-era Republicans" who appealed to the deeply misguided desires of the evangelical voting block to win election. George Washington, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, and Jimmy Madison would have been devastated to learn what American politics would become in the 21st century. Damn shame.
