  1. I'm not religious at all. Today's Sunday, and I went to work as I normally would. (Biblically, Sabbath Day is actually on Saturday, but that's a conversation for another time.) I'm more than happy to work weekends to accomodate a coworker's religious convictions, within limits (an entire month might be a problem 😂). I'm also a leftie, and as such I believe it's SHAMEFUL that we are the ONLY developed country that doesn't provide paid vacation time by law. Not only should this man be allowed to take time off to observe, but he should be PAID while doing so. No matter what the reason, I will always support the right to a reasonable work-life balance. I sincerely hope he wins this case. If I were a praying man, I would be begging the man upstairs for that outcome.

  2. Yep. And it doesn't have to be Sunday. In fact, I would go so far as to say that it should be ILLEGAL to force a full-time employee to work more than five days a week. Any employer who fires a full-time employee for refusing to work extra days during the week should be subject to a wrongful termination lawsuit in all 50 states. If they are unable to meet their needs with current staff, they should just hire more workers. That is such a basic labor protection, other developed countries (particularly in Europe) would never for a second consider that radical.
