  1. Oh man, I remember growing up with my dad very racist and my mom not. In fact I learned years later as an adult that my mom, her mother and aunt passed as white (being mixed) but never talked about it. I was raised in the south and still resent sweeping generalizations of ugly things that occured in pockets. The majority of southerners were not "that way." Very unfair concept and projection. Kind of like saying anyone in the north or midwest were like select people from New York City. I do understand and identify with several of this lady's points. Others, we must have lived in different places as kids during the 1950s and 1960s. Another fine report, David.
