  1. the rest of the video was amazing, i absolutely love that women are being empowered and have their own economic value without the need for men but setting a live animal on fire is brutal and cruel. and then they brought that beautiful dog to the event, but cut away before showing why she was brought there. it definitely makes me worry. i guess i have mixed feelings. cruelty is never ok. but i'm really happy to see these women living and thriving, despite the overwhelming adversity they face. it definitely makes me thankful for the life and opportunities i have as a woman in the west. but again, it highlights just how bad the disparity between genders is in other parts of the world. she talks about her experience of being raped as a child like it's an ordinary thing that happens to everyone. i don't want america to be the world police, but at the same time i really don't know what i can do to help. it's not fair that they live in those conditions. what can i, as an individual, do to help these women in misogynist cultures? i know i have to vote bernie, because he's the only one running his campaign on grass roots small donor money, rather than taking bribes from corporations. but the entire global system is so corrupt that i feel helpless, like i can't use my resources and good fortune to help those in such awful situations. not every woman in the congo can become a wrestler. I'm really glad women are getting representation, being humanized in the public psyche. but at this rate it'll still be decades before the disproportionate violence against women reaches first-world levels. and even that's not good enough, even in the first world we have a lot of work to do. but this is a triage situation, and they need help the most. what can i do to help?
