You should never believe anything regarding past and names. So when Tony said it was David Spencer and Stockton then it can just mean Stockton told Tony this is what Spencer recommended. You would need to have a transcript to tell if it was even a recommendation as in "just use less" or a "ok Stockton if you do, you do". Every single statement from OG is something that needs to be verified a lot more than we could.

The last thing is... even IF someone had said it was good enough, there's still the diagram from Boeing with the little skull for anything under 7inches. It would not suffice to say it's good enough, you had to disprove that.

Regarding Boeing, i dont think they can be blamed for anything in tjis case, the skull and bones presentation was not an endorsement of OGs plans The 45 deg thing is something Stockton represented as "Boeing otherwise can't put it in their models", basically the function was never understood. But really, OG would involve them exactly as much that it never got tangible. Psycho stuff. Footnote: but we don't yet know if they sold leftover fibre or not. Coast guard only said they were unable to verify it. Someone should have a purchase order and a price list at the very least. And that someone would probably also know which pile it came from 😂😂

the lens thing is so horrific - look at the receipt from the company that build the second one, it was like ~10K USD. Not more. The test procedures would not have been horrendously expensive, even considering a pressure chamber. 300 hours? do it when the university has summer break or something. the first manufacturer had a good recommendation - use a standard window, err, viewport while testing and certification is in progress. the whole thing boils down to that stockton didn't understand the guy was trying to show him a cheap path to get his idea done. all he heard is "i got extra material, we can do this" and thought someone is ripping him off. like "*bangs chest* I haz street smartz you can't trickz me" while the other guy was "you're such a dick but i'll really try help you and think for you so you can get your idea done even if you're too dumb" the idiot was messing around thinking someone with a long-existing corporation will scam a prospective customer when the person instead spent hours and hours of their own because they try to do their best for you shows what world Stockton must have grown up in, but also that he just couldn't get him to make engineering minded decisions. he made 'not buying stuff out of a white van' decisions. ah cool, you spotted even the receipt :>

Boeing was also clear that yes there can be some wrinkles, but anything more than minimal translates to inferior production and unsuitable material. It's insane what OG did and how many flaws they combined. For the ntsb guy remember he tried to stay matter of fact. If you listen to his voice you can hear when he sounds more factual and dead and those are the points where he is trying to not shout in rage. Also watch the face of the coast guard investigator during Phils sanding quote. I felt so sorry for him in that moment, and envied his self control in how fast he recovered himself.

In the UW clips you pointed out the lack of mention of spencer. Look at the material bits more. There was Brian. There was the odd genius mentioned in the exit interview. And many more. The buck got passed and never was anywhere at the same time.

I think there was also some indication that Spencer refused to build another hull with the existing concept. Or maybe Electro Impact said they would not do it. But I think it was Spencer said no, they came with their shitty layer plan, Spencer said lolwut and then they went to EI. Ah, just heard your snippet

The 45 degrees, idk if you were saying that and I just don't get it, should also have had move better and wider load distribution than the 2:1 setup they did. (Though, admittedly the load from the outside would be quite even)

The lawyer is not his friend, but Boeing's that alone will make you nervous. But basically it's the same for all "partners", they got lured in, and if they were smart they withdrew. If they insisted on doing it well, OG never spoke to them again - but would probably have spoken of "working with them" even if they were just meeting in court... The UW witness seemed to me like he was still on Stockton cool-aid, i think much what he reported on status was what Stockton TOLD him. I am not sure if he confirmed any of that himself.

@solareclipsetimer you don't know if they promised anything. Keep in mind one of the manufacturers refused to build it unless the process was changed. (Not successfully improved of course). If you read the "exit interview" you'll see they just decided to make the hull thinner and just decided to not use the recommended safety margins etc. Any cooperation partner would have been misled in such situations or maybe (UW) they just loved the glory too much and didn't pull out loudly enough. They probably didn't know how to get out of this situation. They had provided some kind of work or support, and OG (former paying client already in the past) was presenting it to the max. They'd have had to sue them, and what is the claim? "You say we worked with you, which we did, but we weren't really part of your project!" 😅

Bad production, no clean room, the autoclaving just increased the effect. It's also not yet verified if they really bought cheap leftover material. It should come up in either OG or Boeings records.

1) that's no "somewhat equal"... reality seems more that the glue came off between the bonded layers and the layers were bearing different loads altogether and overloaded each on their own.
